Pet Wellness Enhanced by Complimentary Modalities

By Dr. Valerie Bornemann

As a more holistic and wellness centered focus takes hold in veterinary medicine, many of the newer modalities for people are becoming available for companion pets. Although it took years for acupuncture to become widely accepted by veterinary schools and specialists, now it is common place for orthopedic surgeons to refer patients for acupuncture following some of the more invasive procedures such as ACL repair and hip replacement.

One of the newer modalities is biofeedback, which uses non-invasive and safe quantum technology. The biofeedback device scans the body and balances physical and emotional stress to allow your pet to operate at an optimal level of wellness. Some of the positive effects of quantum biofeedback expressed by people are:  peace of mind; reduced anxiety or depression; reduced anger, grief or sorrow; improved blood pressure; less irritable bowel; increased focus, attention and concentration; and improved general well-being. Biofeedback is now available for your pet as well.

Both acupuncture and biofeedback help relieve or balance out stress, which helps to decrease the levels of stress hormones, e.g. Cortisol, and this enables the immune system to function optimally. Excess stress is a pathway to disease. Every thought and action is accompanied by electrical activity in the nervous system. Cells network together and operate at various frequencies, and when in balance the body functions optimally and there is a sense of well-being.

Acupuncture acts along energetic meridians or energy points stimulating the body to self heal. The needles used for this are only about the width of a strand of hair, and therefore are virtually painless. Quantum energy techniques involve changing the vibration or the frequency of cells to restore the body back to its natural state of being.  Neither acupuncture nor biofeedback can guarantee results, and a patient must have some capacity for healing in order to have a positive response. That being said, there is certainly a place for these options to enhance traditional veterinary medicine, or when traditional choices have been exhausted.
